Keltbray IDEC are currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer join our Power team.
Directly responsible to Technical Manager & Lead Engineer for project related activities.
The role is to be part of design team, based at Stockton head office, either working under a nominated Lead Engineer, or working as the nominated Lead Engineer for the design, configuration, testing and commissioning of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) for Power applications (including Renewables).
Role & Responsibilities
- Adhering to the Quality Assurance and Cyber Security requirements defined for the project.
- Working as part of a project team or individually.
- Working as the nominated Lead Engineer for a project.
- Prepare I/O schedules/Signal Lists from Client provided information (such as Schematics / Relay Configuration Files) and discussions.
- Write Functional Design Specifications (FDS) from User Requirement Specifications, Control Philosophies and Client discussions.
- Prepare test documentation to demonstrate project scope has been delivered.
- Development of the System Architecture.
- Development, modification and testing of Controller, HMI, SCADA, and Network device software.
- Client Factory Acceptance Testing (CFAT).
- Onsite commissioning support.
- Review technical documentation and software produced by others.
- Approve technical documentation and software produced by others when nominated Lead Engineer for a project.
- Purchase requestions for project specified equipment.
- Specify project equipment to be purchased.
- Assist with project cost control, instructing invoicing, scope changes, etc.
- Assist in Tendering
Qualifications and Training
- Level 4 (HNC/NVQ) or above or equivalent experience in an associated discipline.
- Preferred: Working towards or achieved I. Eng or equivalent.
- Successful candidates should demonstrate at least 5 years IACS experience, operating at an engineer level or above.
Knowledge
- Able to demonstrate knowledge/experience of applied IACS technologies & architectures, such as Industrial Protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/RTU etc) and Ethernet Networking (Linear, Star, Ring, etc).
- Power – Transmission & Distribution, Renewables (Onshore/Offshore Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems), Utilities (Gas Networks, Water/Wastewater).
Skills & Abilities
- Able to demonstrate knowledge/experience in programming Controllers (RTU, BCU, PLC, etc) or HMI or SCADA or Network Devices (Switch, Firewall, Protocol Gateway, etc) from IACS.
- Familiar with IACS manufacturers (such as, Copa Data, SEL, GE Grid, ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Hirschmann, Moxa, Cisco, Honeywell, Emerson, etc).
