Esher, UK – 3 May 2023: Keltbray, the leading UK specialist construction engineering and infrastructure services business, today announces it has secured a prestigious framework contract, valued up to £40 million, to deliver critical Overhead Line (OHL) infrastructure for key Distribution Network Operator (DNO), Northern Powergrid (NPg), providing critical support to the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s strategy to increase the UK’s energy independence through a greener energy portfolio.

The new framework’s multi-disciplinary approach includes construction of new overhead line infrastructure, and refurbishment and replacement of time-expired assets to bring the overhead electricity distribution infrastructure in line with modern standards.

This will ensure a robust and resilient network capable of dealing with increases in both customer demand, and additional generation from renewable energy sources, as the UK drives towards a brighter, and greener future, supporting the national commitment to a net zero infrastructure by 2030.

The works will focus on West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and the Humber Estuary regions.

Keltbray’s Chief Executive Officer, Darren James, commented:

“This prestigious contract award swiftly follows on from our recent announcement of £150 million of energy contract wins, reinforcing Keltbray’s growing reputation as the ‘go to’ provider for infrastructure services.”

Phill Price, Managing Director of Keltbray’s Infrastructure division, said:

“This project award marks another important milestone in the delivery of our strategy to redefine the way sustainable development is delivered, where we see increasing demand for Keltbray’s integrated capabilities in safety-critical infrastructure sectors like energy.”

Mike Snee, Managing Director of Keltbray’s Energy business, said:

“We are delighted to have secured this major contract delivering essential energy infrastructure to support the UK’s energy security and net zero agendas, marking a further step in our strategy to offer a higher-value, end-to-end service for our clients.”
