Keltbray, a leading UK specialist engineering business, today announces the acquisition of IDEC Group Limited, a high voltage power engineering business. IDEC Group Limited provides a full electrical substation design, construction and commissioning service up to 275kV; this includes the provision of digital systems engineering solutions based around grid protection, control, supervision and data acquisition to the energy networks, renewable energy and energy storage markets.
The acquisition is in line with a key part of the Keltbray Group’s strategy to develop its infrastructure services offering. The addition of IDEC’s capabilities accelerates the group’s growth plans in power network enhancement, renewable energy generation, energy storage and transport decarbonisation. IDEC’s services, particularly in the regulated electricity market, are a strong fit with Keltbray’s existing energy business.
IDEC employs 138 employees and many of its clients are existing clients of the Keltbray Group.
Commenting on the acquisition, Darren James, Chief Executive Officer at Keltbray, said: “The acquisition of IDEC is a further demonstration of the strategic focus of the Keltbray Group to develop its services in critical infrastructure markets. We look forward to welcoming our new IDEC colleagues to Keltbray as they join us to become part of a broader power engineering offering, and introduce a high quality control and systems integration capability in the water and industrial sectors.”
Phill Price, Managing Director of Infrastructure at Keltbray, commented: “Our strategy to provide existing and new customers with a more integrated energy services platform has today taken a major step forwards. The acquisition of IDEC provides a significant enhancement to our power network, renewable energy, energy storage, water, industrial and transport decarbonisation capability.”
Mike Snee, Managing Director of Keltbray’s Energy Services, said: “IDEC is an experienced and professional power services provider with a strong reputation in substation design, construction and installation phases in the energy generation storage and utilities markets, as well as process control and systems integration capability in the water and industrial sectors.
“We are therefore excited by the prospect of bringing these additional engineering strengths and value to Keltbray’s Energy customer offering and our plan for strategic growth in the utilities and power sector.”
