5th November 2024: Keltbray Infrastructure Services Limited (KISL) proudly participated in the Projects Control Expo 2024 at Wembley Stadium. William (Billy) Mooney, Group Head of Project Services at KISL, hosted an insightful panel with notable industry leaders.

Spanning artificial intelligence (AI) to data reporting, the panel focused on four key elements of innovation: Digitisation and Transformation, Optimising Data, the Future of Project Controls, and New Concepts and Best Practices.

The discussion covered various topics aimed at enhancing project controls, including integrating technology like AI for automation, the importance of data insights, value and risk management, strategic talent development amidst pressing challenges and more.

Greg Lawton (CEO, Nodes & Links), Martin Paver (CEO, Projecting Success Ltd), Grace Najjar (CEO, Align Management Solutions) and Darren Bayley (Programme Controls Director, Jacobs) made up a balanced panel carefully selected by Billy.

Innovation in project controls can have many permutations and connotations for each person. Still, it involves evolving project controls to deliver a new future via better efficiencies to achieve optimisation. Conscious of different mindsets and preconceptions, a holistic approach is taken to facilitate balanced change to optimise the rate of transition.

The fundamentals of innovation have remained unchanged for over 5,000 years; however, the way it is implemented has changed. Evidence of innovative project management techniques dates back to the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Wall of China, evolving into what we see today in our modern world and the way projects are delivered.

Innovation does not solely rely on implementing new technology to improve efficiency; we can also learn new insights by sharing knowledge with colleagues, peers and friends in other industries. The panel’s consensus concluded that the future of project controls will not be the same as it operates today, which lends itself to fast-evolving innovation environments.

Billy commented “I really enjoyed hosting the panel and sharing the stage with subject matter experts from various fields. I felt the panel gave a broad spectrum of opinions to the various topics and questions I posed which gave the audience much to ponder, whilst also agreeing on some common themes. I was particularly pleased that we had attracted a full house with engaging questions during our Q&A, coupled with positive feedback from the audience to the panel”
